Cruising Europe is a Value. . .

I know this is my second consecutive entry about cruising in Europe. It's just that it makes me so sad to think that many people are not going to go to Europe because of the weakened dollar. The great thing about cruising is, you pay for most things upfront and you pay in U.S. dollars. You don't have to worry about room and board -- just the meals you grab while in port. My husband and I have even been known to return to the ship for lunch and then back to exploring afterward.

You also don't have to pay for transportation from city to city. You go to sleep in one country and wake up in another! If you decide to book your shore excursions through the cruiseline, you don't even have to use Euros for your tours.

Whether you like big ships like Royal Caribbean, Holland America or Celebrity, or if you prefer the luxury lines like Crystal or Regent, or if you want to try a river boat cruise (subject of a future blog entry), cruising Europe is a value. Don't count it out.

If you have questions about this, please email me.

Europe? Try a Cruise. . .

Often times when I suggest a European cruise, people are concerned about the lack of time in each port. This doesn't have to be an issue if you plan ahead. You may want to take an organized shore excursion, either through the cruise line, or arranged privately. Or, you may want to explore on your own. If you choose an independent adventure, make sure to do your research before you leave home. Talk to your travel agent, spend time on the internet, ask friends who have been there, buy a good travel book. If you don't do your homework, you will waste precious time figuring out where to go and how to get there. If you are prepared, you will be amazed at how much you can see in one day. At the very least, you will know if you want to return some day.
